Summary

A new design system to operationalize quality across Study.com

Study.com had spent 20 years optimizing for speed and cost, at the expense of brand and user experience. The lack of a strong design system was creating systemic problems: fragmented user experiences, redundant custom code, and low credibility for the design team.

After a successful proof of concept demonstrated measurable retention and revenue wins, leadership greenlit a new global design system. I led the effort end-to-end.

Design approach

Three phases: design direction, implementation, adoption

I led design across three phases of the build, from direction-setting through enablement:

  • Design direction: defined system requirements and set the bar for component and visual quality. Partnered with a contracted specialist on Figma library execution.
  • Implementation: authored component specs and usage guidelines, ran QA against design standards, and unblocked engineering throughout the build.
  • Adoption: onboarded the design team through training and reviews, and served as the ongoing point of contact for system maintenance.
Outcomes

Faster workflows, stronger collaboration, real product impact

Following launch, Eureka delivered measurable wins — faster design and development workflows, stronger cross-functional collaboration, and validated product impact across member and guest experiences.
